LIME’s new phone directory focuses on nation’s heritage PDF  | Print |  E-mail

Doodles and scribbles of the Turks and Caicos Island’s local industry and a photo of a girl and a lad exemplifying unique tradition grace the cover of this year’s phone services directory produced and released by telecommunications giant LIME, distributed island-wide last week.

LIME Marketing Manager Rachel Harvey said this year’s cover depicts heritage preservation — a principle that LIME believes in.

Featuring products by local artisans, LIME’s cover is dedicated to the Turks and Caicos National Trust, which is the organization responsible for the preservation of the heritage of the TCI.

“LIME believes that a country’s heritage is extremely important, and this cover aims to encourage others to become involved in the National Trust,” Harvey said.

The theme, “We Tings We Make,” highlights items produced in the TCI, from straw baskets and hats to innovative items made from the conch shells. Director of the Cultural Commission David Bowen designed the national costume that is featured with models Guerta Toussaint and Edwardo Robinson.

Meanwhile, National Trust Executive Director Ethlyn Gibbs-Williams thanked LIME for supporting the organization’s cause in more ways than one.

“LIME has been a constant supporter of the National Trust,” Gibbs-Williams said. “The company is one of our loyal corporate members for and a willing sponsor for our major activities such as Earth Day and Annual Summer Camp.”

Gibbs-Williams said the team at the National Trust hopes that more people will follow LIME’s gesture in helping the organization and the whole country.

Since its inception, the National Trust has embarked on a number of accomplishments, including work on preserving heritage sites, continuing public awareness and expanding conservation programmes. “More work rests upon the National Trust’s shoulders,” she said. “Continued work in the conservation and preservation of our national treasures, including public education for our future generations, need much support.”

LIME encourages everyone to join the National Trust.

The National Trust encourages the public’s involvement in promoting the highest standards in cultural and biodiversity management, formulating strategies and providing quality service to the people of the TCI and visitors alike.

As both organizations say and as depicted in the directory cover, they are partners in the preservation of the nation’s heritage.
