It was not just another school day for Enid Capron Primary School kindergartners when one of their favourite characters arrived at their school. In support of Education Week, Beaches Resorts Villages and Spa and Sesame Street joined forces with the Sandals Foundation to bring “Story Time with Elmo” to the excited students.

The event was part of Education Week at the school, and was made extra special with Elmo’s visit. Enid Capron Principal, Rachel Taylor, “Students were very excited that Elmo paid a special visit today” she further said “We are very grateful that our sponsor Beaches Resort was able to incorporate a well known Sesame Street character to enhance our Reading Rush Pajamas day event”

Elmo read the favourite well known children’s take, Jack and the Beanstalk to an enthusiastic group of forty kindergarteners, dressed in their favorite pajamas.

Beaches Public Relations Manager Elanor Finfin expressed her excitement  of the event, “Beaches and its Philanthropy arm the Sandals Foundations are here to uplift, engage and empower the Turks & Caicos community through Education,” she further said, “Reading to kindergartener with the help of  Elmo fosters learning in a fun interactive way” she concluded, “we are very grateful that we were given the opportunity to incorporate our partner Sesame Street in this interactive reading experience.”

The Five Cays based primary school has been adopted by Beaches Resorts Villages and Spa and its philanthropy arm the Sandals Foundations. Across the Caribbean, the resort chain has adopted a total of 26 schools. The foundation works closely to provide support and assistance to the schools which also provide a focus for much of the outreach work. Working with the parents and teachers, resort team members provide practical support by helping to maintain buildings, organize student seminars and visits, special events, and Christmas treats for around 9,000 pupils.
