Although they faced fierce competition in Atlanta, two local hockey teams made the TCI proud with one team battling to the wire and almost grabbing a bronze medal. The inline roller hockey team TC Islanders made it to the big time this month when they participated in a National American Hockey tournament in the United States. The two teams, under 12’s and under 14’s, each faced skilled and experienced teams but held their own. The Under 14 team played a total of four games, with Josh Williams making a total of two goals and Oliver Wolf one goal. The Under 12’s made it to a bronze medal game, where they lost by only one goal in double overtime. “It was an incredible game,” said organizer Al Larkin. “The players gave 110 percent effort and heart throughout.” In total the Under 12 team scored nine goals in just three days of tournament play.
