![]() More than 30 dogs and owners gathered under the big white tent June 26 at Turtle Cove Marina for the popular and entertaining annual dog show by the Turks and Caicos Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Seven judging categories ranged from the best looking dog to the canine who looks most like its owner. A golden retriever named Monte, owned by Emma Riach, won best in show, first in the obstacle course and third-best looking male dog. Lead sponsor PPC Ltd. donated $5,000 to the TCSPCA. Other sponsors included Graceway IGA and Pedigree Ltd. TCSPCA Executive Director Susan Blehr said the event raised approximately $24,500, which will be used to expand the already very successful Low Cost Spay/Neuter Vaccination Program to other islands where currently no veterinary care exists. The four-hour event featured a craft table and face painting for the kids, fundraising retail vendors, and food and beverage by Chef Clive Whent from the Kissing Fish Catering Company. Judges for the competitions were Peggy Perkins (TC Vets), Donna Doran (owner/Pampered Paws), Judith Campbell (permanent secretary/Health and Human Services) and Kevin Smith (vice president of IT/PPC). Guests of honor were Eddington Powell, CEO of PPC, and Heather Forbes, chairman of the Potcake Foundation. Emcee for the event was Mary Lou Vanderheide. During the show was a demonstration by the trained patrol dogs from Pine Cay, including Molly with her handler Sherwyn DrePaul, and Roscoe with his handler Heackel Encallado. John Patrick, security manager from Pine Cay, wore the bite suit for the demonstration! 2010 TCSPCA Dog Show Winners Best In Show Dog Best Trick Most Original Potcake Looks Most Like Owner Obstacle Course Cutest Tail Best Looking Female Best Looking Male
