The Ministry of Border Control and Labour reminds all businesses that they can appeal refusals of labour clearances to the ministry’s Immigration Appeals Committee, which was established in September. The committee examines appeals of refusals and gives recommendations on individual cases to the governor, who decides the issues under the interim arrangements for the administration of TCI. This temporary arrangement will continue until an independent Immigration Appeals Tribunal is formed, a matter currently before the governor’s Advisory Council. “As is customary, the general public will be notified when new legislation is scheduled for discussion either by the Advisory Council or Consultative Forum, and a press statement will be issued on the commencement of any new provision in law,” the ministry said in a statement June 29. Businesses wishing to appeal refusals can submit correspondence to the ministry office in Providenciales that is currently located upstairs in the Hilly Ewing building for the attention of Under Secretary Willette Swann. In Grand Turk, correspondence should be sent to the ministry in the government compound on Pond Street for the attention of Permanent Secretary Clara Gardiner. For more information, contact the Ministry of Border Control and Labour.
