![]() Several talented Beaches staff will soon be on their way to compete in Sandals company-wide talent competition with high hopes for bringing home the ENCORE title to the TCI. Shernette Davis, Ricardo Brown, Arabelis Carassco, Jose Alcalaz and Ingrid Santo will all be representing the TCI at Beaches and Sandals International ENCORE which will take place at Grande Ocho Rios on Saturday, Nov. 6. The finalists will compete against the regional winners from Sandals/ Beaches Resorts in Jamaica, St. Lucia, Antigua, and the Bahamas for the International crown. Launched in 2003, the ENCORE competition was created to showcase the vast array of talents present within the Sandals organization across the Caribbean. ENCORE, which stands for Entertainment Now Creates Opportunities Rewarding Excellence, is the brainchild of Sandals’ Creative Director Weston Haughton. The five TCI finalists secured their spots by beating out other staff at the local Beaches Resort and Spa talent competition Oct. 13. Shernette Davis and Ricardo Brown wowed the judges with their voices, securing them a place as the vocal finalists for the TCI. Arabelis Carassco and Jose Alcalaz strutted their way to the top with their model behaviour by showcasing their perfectly toned bodies in three wardrobes which included evening wear and beach wear. Ingrid Santo’s acrobatic dance skills landed her at the top of the chart. The talented dancer performed a number she choreographed for the competition, beating out both her male and female competitors. The tough responsibility of judging fell upon former Miss Turks & Caicos Earth Tamika Deveaux, Co-Producer of TCI next Top Model Michelle Swann and Fitness Guru John Wright. Jerome Cohall, entertainment manager for the resort and head organizer of ENCORE here, said the competition “created a platform for the team members at Beaches Turks and Caicos to showcase talents across several areas of the performing arts. “Beaches and Sandals International has realized the need to show these local talents and has created an avenue to not only perform at a regional level but also to rewarded participating team members for their abilities.”
