![]() The first of what is planned to be a series of tasting events, “A Tasting Menu of Spanish Tapas” turned the cafe at Graceway Gourmet into a wine tasting wonderland Monday (Jan. 31). Graceway Trading, the parent company of IGA Graceway and Graceway Gourmet, have embarked on a new wine adventure, bringing diverse and new wines to the Turks and Caicos. As part of this new initiative, they have also started a series called “The Tasting Table” inviting residents and guests to taste and learn about the unique wines now available in their stores. “On Provo we are fortunate to have people highly devoted to improving the dining experience with exciting food and beverage options. The Tasting Table is an opportunity to educate islanders and visitors to new tastes and culinary delights through our talented on-premise chefs and through a visiting chef program,” explained Graceway Trading’s Wine, Beer and Spirits Buyer, Tina Williford. Williford invited Spanish wine maker Jurgen Wagner to present wines from his winery, Celler de Capcanes, as well as other regions in Spain. Wagner engaged the attendees with delightful stories, explanations of vineyard growing practices and winemaking processes, along with sensory notes for each of the Spanish wines. "For this inaugural event, we hope that people will enjoy experiencing the flavor profiles of the wines and tapas offered through the multiple regions of Spain,” Williford said. “The mission of The Tasting Table is to develop strong connections between people, food, wine and culture, by promoting “taste education” through events. An impressive thirteen wines were tested along with a delicious menu of Spanish Tapas prepared by Graceway Gourmet’s resident chef Ken Sarda. Tapas dishes included traditional Spanish Torta as well as Chorizo with Papas Bravas and Prawns wrapped in Iberico ham. Sarda and his team transformed the Graceway Gourmet outdoor cafe into a beautiful open-air restaurant for the event. The atmosphere was fun and lively as guests enjoyed a fun evening of food and wine. The Tasting Table plans to provide on-going events once every two months, offering the perfect opportunity to share time with friends and new acquaintances while learning about wine.
