VIP treatment available at Provo airport PDF  | Print |  E-mail

Opening this week to the public, the new VIP Flyers Club is offering first service and amenities to weary travelers heading in and out of the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Managing Director of Olympia Destination Management Co. Caesar Campbell says it is all about enhancing the passengers’ experience. The new 600-square-foot luxury lounge located in the departure area of the Providenciales International Airport offers a relaxing atmosphere as well as fast-track service.

Travelers who are willing to pay the $40 admission fee will be treated to an air-conditioned lounge with leather armchairs, marble counter tops and 42-inch LCD TVs. They can also enjoy refreshments and snacks while they surf the Internet via free Wi-Fi or make free international calls to the U.S. or Canada.

Campbell says the lounge has been a vision he has had for sometime, believing there is a market for such a service given the number of five-star resorts in the country.

The departure lounge at the Providenciales airport has become a very busy place, with more than 10 flights landing several afternoons a week. Without any airline frequent flyer lounges, the VIP Flyers Club is now the only place to escape the crowds and hustle and bustle of commercial air travel to Providenciales.

In addition to relaxing in the lounge while waiting for your flight to leave the island, the club also offers a fast-track service for arriving passengers. The on-site concierge will escort you to the lounge were you can wait in comfort while you are cleared through immigration and your baggage is collected and customs cleared.

The lounge is open seven days a week from 6 a.m. until the last flight lands in the evenings. While walk-ins are accepted, reservations are recommended because space is limited to a total of 15 guests.

While not associated with the Turks and Caicos Airport Authority, the new luxury lounge is a sneak peak at what he believes passengers can expect from the TCI in the future with the TCIAA airport expansion project currently underway, Campbell says.

“We want to help enhance the experience of the traveler in hopes guests will leave with a positive feeling and continue to recommend the destination to others,” he said.
