Beaches wins 3 TCHTA Star Awards PDF Print E-mail

Staff at Beaches Resorts and Spa won three Star Awards from the Turks and Caicos Hotel and Tourism Association for their stellar performances in 2010.

Beaches General Manager Donald Dagenais won Hotelier of the Year, Colin Watson won Chef of the Year for the second year in a row, and Tamara Dixon won Employee of the Year.

Royal West Indies Resort won top honors as Hotel of the Year for 2010. Criteria for the award were “a licensed hotel that offers a gateway to paradise, where service exceeds excellence, engulfed with positive attitude and attentiveness of staff, offers exceptional value for money, has outstanding facilities and amenities, remarkable ambiance, innovation and the ability to provide visitors with a true sample of the TCI brand.”

E. Jay Saunders, CEO of Digicel TCI, was master of ceremonies at the event May 9 at the Regent Palms.

Tourism has been the economic “Atlas” over the past few tough economic years, supporting the economy of the TCI on its shoulders, Saunders told TCHTA members, and “you keep tourism alive.”

  • Manager of the Year
  • Sonia Williams-Ewing, Ocean Club Resorts
  • Bartender of the Year
  • Norwyn Guthrie, Somerset
  • Entertainer of the Year
  • David Bowen
  • Allied Member of the Year
  • BNC Consulting Group
