Responding to increasing complaints of littering, police are urging people deal with trash properly and to report violators, who can face fines and jail time. “The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police are requesting that citizens of the Turks and Caicos Islands do their part to keep the islands ‘Beautiful by Nature,’” police said in a statement June 12. “There has been an increase in the number of complaints relating to the improper disposal of garbage and illegal dump sites.” “It is imperative that persons dispose of their litter in the designated disposal bins or placed in garbage bins for pickup,” police said. The public can report violations to police at 946-4259 or by contacting Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477 (TIPS).
