The Environmental Health Department announced this week it has changed the hours of operation for its newly installed medical incinerator.

The incinerator was operating between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., but will now switch its 12-hour shift to evenings between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. The change went into effect July 9.

The incinerator has now been in operation for a month and is operated by a private contractor who was trained by the manufacturer and the government’s Engineering and Maintenance Services.

According to the department, the incinerator is an important part of disposing of the medical waste from the medical facilities in Providenciales in a sanitary and satisfactory manner.
