Veteran hotelier Stacy Cox has been appointed association executive of the Turks and Caicos Hotel and Tourism Association.

Cox joined the TCHTA on Sept. 1 after spending almost 20 years in the industry. The appointment comes at a critical point in the country’s development, as the association continues to work towards sustainable growth and development of the local tourism product.

“Stacy is no stranger to the association after having served on the board for a number of years,” said TCHTA President Karen Whitt. “We are truly happy to welcome her back to the TCHTA family.

“She brings tremendous knowledge as it relates to the association, our objectives and the tourism product on a whole. The board is confident that she will work along with our members, the public, government and our private sector partners to maintain TCI’s status as a world class destination.”

TCI Tourist Board Director Ralph Higgs also welcomed Cox’s appointment.

“We believe that the association has selected the ideal candidate to fill the post,” Higgs said. “Her work experience and work ethics along with her knowledge of the industry will indeed help to take our industry forward. The board stands ready to assist Mrs. Cox and the Association wherever possible as we aim to achieve one common goal.”

The TCHTA represents a wide range of members including hotels, resorts, insurance companies, financial service providers, watersports operators, catering outlets and taxi drivers.
