Scotiabank, for the second year in a row, has been named Bank of the Year in the Turks and Caicos Islands by the Banker Magazine of London England.Responding to this incredible news was Doug Cochrane, Managing Director of Scotiabank Turks and Caicos, “Although the world financial markets have been faced with unexpected challenges which in turn have made their effect felt here in the Turks and Caicos Islands, we have remained focused on our Staff and Customers by providing new enhanced products and services and employment opportunities.” Since first being awarded the coveted honor, Scotiabank has expanded its business to nearly 100 employees with the addition of 17 new professional bankers. Admitting to past and present challenges in its customer experience details, the bank intends on moving forward with its long-term plans. The bank will launch Scotia Private Client Group, a service that will offer private banking, trust services and wealth management opportunities for its retail and business clientèle. This new service comes on the heals of the introduction of the ScotiaCard Visa Debit card. The card allows customers to access 14 million merchants and ATMs around the world, allowing local customers to travel internationally without fear of losing cash. Scotiabank has established 1500 new accounts in the past year and reorganised its regional data centres to Toronto in an effort to streamline its operations and position itself for technological updates. The firm plans on opening a new location in Grace Bay Centre and expanding its infrastructure on Grand Turk. Having been established on the Turks and Caicos Islands in 1982, the company prides itself on its long history with the community throughout the nation and across the Caribbean.
