The National HIV Unit has been rolling through neighborhoods on Providenciales with its annual mobile HIV testing program to ensure that people living in the Turks and Caicos Islands know their status. The awareness program’s theme is “Romance with Caution,” and its objective is to raise awareness of HIV and AIDS so that there are no new infections and untimely deaths from the disease. Mobile testing was done in Blue Hills and Kew Town on Feb. 14, in Five Cays on Feb. 15, and will be done in the Bight on Feb. 16. Testing will be kept confidential. To raise even more awareness, the public is invited to a function hosted by the AIDS sub-committee in Grand Turk. The event dubbed “Romance with Caution” will feature a fashion show by local designer Kazz Forbes, live music by the Royal Turks and Caicos Police Band and much more. The event will be held Feb. 24 at the Bohio Resort on Grand Turk. Admission is $25 at the door or $20 early sale. All funds raised from the event will be used to purchase books for the Health and Family Life curriculum in Grand Turk schools.
