| Community wins big at fun run |

FortisTCI rallied its employees and the community together to not only get in shape but to promote healthier lifestyles through their 4th Annual Spring Fun Walk and Run held March 31. Participants took advantage of a beautiful spring day to get fit while bonding and encouraging their fellow co-workers, family, friends, corporate partners and community members to endorse healthy balanced lifestyles that comprise of a nutritious diet and regular exercise. This year’s winners were congratulated on a job well done with Schwinn bicycles being awarded to the first place runners. Leonardo Sarita took first place in the men’s group, Lynn Robinson won the ladies division and Nore Verdieu won on the FortisTCI team. Coltrane Nickson was the first child to complete the route and took home a gift certificate to the Unicorn Bookstore. Group prizes were also given to the largest corporate team, which was won by Team Beaches whose 40 members were awarded with FortisTCI gift bags and movie tickets. Each registered participant was automatically entered to win a Nintendo game system and Wii Fit. This year’s winner, Georgetta Smith, was ecstatic about her big win. “We hope to continue encouraging and educating our staff and the community about the benefits and added value of being healthy,” said Shernelle Capron, FortisTCI Social Club president and event coordinator. “This FortisTCI annual walk and run sends a number of messages, not only about the importance of exercise, but also about healthy eating habits, social development, and the potential rewards from working hard to accomplish your goals.” FortisTCI will make a charitable contribution to the Turks and Caicos Islands Red Cross based on employee participation numbers at the event.
