Police briefs: Two tourists die while snorkeling PDF Print E-mail

Two tourists died while snorkeling in separate incidents on Providenciales and Grand Turk.

Police said American tourist American tourist Leon Huebner, 80, experienced difficulties while snorkeling off Grace Bay beach on April 7.

He was taken to the Cheshire Hall Medical Centre where attempts to revive him failed.

In a separate incident, police are investigating the April 9 death of a tourist believed to have been a passenger on a cruise ship visiting Grand Turk.

A 62-year-old man experienced difficulties while snorkeling. Dive instructors got him aboard a boat and administered emergency treatment.

The man was brought to shore and taken to the Cockburn Town Medical Centre, where he was pronounced dead.

Teenager learning to dive off Grand Turk recovering

A 17-year-old American tourist is recovering after being pulled from the waters where he was learning to dive.

The teenager had difficulties and was pulled from the water and given first aid. He was taken to the Cruise Centre, then to Cockburn Town Medical Centre before being airlifted to a hospital in the U.S.

The incident, which happened just before 3 p.m. April 10, is under investigation by police.

Man threatens to shoot dog near Flamingo Park

Police are seeking witnesses after an armed man allegedly made threats near Flamingo Park.

A resident was walking his dog around 7 a.m. April 11 when he was approached by a man who came out of the bushes and threatened to shoot the animal.

The man, who is described as dark skinned, was wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans. He was thought to be holding a firearm.
