SGFH to debut collection at Caribbean Fashion Week in Jamaica
Thursday, 10 May 2012 09:04

Exactly one year after Turks and Caicos Island fashion designer Kazz Forbes debuted his first collection in New York, he will debut his latest collection in Jamaica at Caribbean Fashion Week.

The South Caicos native, head designer and proprietor of Saint George Fashion House (SGFH), will debut his “Island Breeze” 2013 resort collection June 8 in Kingston.

Following on the success of his 2011 Le Caicos Chic collection, which debuted in New York on June 8, 2011, Forbes has created a fresh new look for 2012.

The “Island Breeze” 2013 resort collection was inspired by the breathtaking beauty of the Turks and Caicos Islands, Forbes said.

“For me, I think of the quality of light in the Turks and Caicos Islands, the sun, sand and sea, the blue of the moonlight and the minty light of the days,” Forbes said. “I go often to the beach, and there I try not just to see, but to feel the beauty of the environment. In my collection I have tried to re-produce that feeling.”

Showing at Caribbean Fashion Week is a huge boost for the reputation of the local designer. Established by Pulse Investment Ltd. in 2001, Caribbean Fashion Week is the region’s largest, most recognized and internationally respected fashion event.

“I am honoured to be showcasing at Caribbean Fashion Week,” said Forbes, the first Turks and Caicos Islander to showcase at the prestigious event.
In addition to the best designers the Caribbean has to offer, CFW boasts some of the most recognizable models, fashion designers and stylists in the business.

The young and enthusiastic designer is hoping to garner the attention of the regional and international fashion buyers represented at the event, as well as fashion press from around the world, including Vogue and Fashion TV Paris.

SGFH’s participation is being sponsored by several local firms, including Grace Bay Club Resorts, Turks and Caicos Friends of the Arts Foundation, Digicel TCI, Karam & Missick Law Firm, The Mail Drop International, the Turks and Caicos Sun Newspaper, Caribbean Property Management and Acres of Diamonds Ltd.
