Beaches Resort and Spa Concierge Agent Claudine Boyce was happy to be called “The Biggest Loser” by her co-workers and management, otherwise known as the winner of the resorts 3rd annual Fit-to-Serve fitness competition. Boyce was crowned at a resort hosted cocktail celebration to commemorate the weight shed by three hard working Beaches employees. This year marked the third annual fitness challenge where the resort called upon the Athletic Club to help empower, encourage and motivate the selected employees to get fit. The three weight loss competitors were selected earlier this year when the resort invited all interested employees to submit a 50-word essay explaining why they should be selected to enter the program. The winner lost an astonishing 24 pounds, beating out spa associate Natrice William who was named first runner up for her 16-pound weight loss. Food and beverage Secretary Selman Delancy took third place. “This weight loss challenge has definitely boosted my self-confidence, and also enhanced my energy levels to not only do everyday activities with my two boys but also improve the quality of service I offer this resort,” said Boyce, a mother of two who started the competition weighing 196 pounds. “I am so happy I joined this competition and thank Beaches Resorts for this amazing life-altering opportunity.” The goal of the fitness challenge is to motivate employees to eat well and be more active while learning important healthy habits. Nancy Mizinski, director of The Athletic Club, designed a workout program and also worked closely with each competitors. “Consistency and discipline was the key to this fitness challenge,” Mizinski said. “We met with each of the participants to discuss their goals and came up with a plan for each of them that was realistic to their lifestyle.” Each competitor’s daily routine include fitness classes, strength and cardio training, which resulted in the combined loss 45 pounds among the three contestants. Boyce also took home gift certificates for a new wardrobe, a professional photo shoot package courtesy of the Resort Snap Shop Spa and six months membership at The Athletic Club. |
