| First female to be elected to CFU Executive Committee |

Turks and Caicos Islands Football Association’s General Secretary Sonia Bien-Aime made history as the first woman elected to an executive position with the Caribbean Football Union. Bien-Aime was selected at the CFU’s 35th Ordinary Congress in Budapest, Hungary. She has many other successes within the organization, such as being appointed to the Organising Committee for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup by FIFA’s President Joseph S. Blatter, as well as being appointed to the CFU Finance Task Force. “I am enormously humbled to have been elected to serve as an executive committee member for the CFU,” Bien-Amie said. “An appointment of this significance to serve on one of the highest levels of Caribbean football is an incredible honor for me, the TCIFA and the Turks and Caicos Islands as a country. “This is indeed a great opportunity for me, being the first female from any Caribbean Football Association to serve on a FIFA Organizing Committee and now the Caribbean Football Union. “It will be my privilege to serve with a distinguished panel that endeavors to make an incredible impact football in the Caribbean region, and football in general: the worlds greatest sport,” she said. The CFU is the nominal governing body for association football in the Caribbean. It represents 30 FIFA member nations, as well as five territories that are not affiliated with FIFA. The union was established in January 1978, and its member associations compete in the CONCACAF region. The Turks and Caicos Islands Football Association (TCIFA) is a non-for-profit organisation in the business of football development throughout the TCI. It has been in operation since 1996 and a member of FIFA since 1998.
