The current economy of the Turks and Caicos Islands was built on the condo hotel market, a relatively simple principle that changed the face of the country.

Brought to the country in the mid to late 1990’s, the condo hotel concept brought life to the sleepy island of Providenciales. However, today, amidst economic turmoil and several bad experiences, many are questioning the long term staying power of this idea and how it plays into the future of the TCI economy.

Many agents across the islands are reporting a marked increase in the number of inquiries they have been receiving, which Padgett says is a positive sign for the market. “This is an encouraging sign that buyers have recognized that property prices have actually stabilized over the last two to three months, after a fall of approximately 30-35% across the sector.”
